Pasta on Singles‘ Day

Today is 11/11/11, when there is no explanation or misunderstanding on whether the month, date or year comes first. I'm not sure whether we share the custom of Singles' Day between Chinese and western. However, I'd like to explain why today is Singles' Day, since it is fun. We all know one means single, and today, when six singles get together, it is time for those singles to celebrate their day-- the day for those single men and women. I'm single, so I celebrate it by treating myself delicious pasta, which is supposed to be a joke. Now, let's start!

Ingredients:

  • Pasta, Bacon(I used turkey bacon.), mushrooms, celery(optional,I put it in,because I want to add some vegetable in). The amount is showed as the picture, which is quite flexible.
  • And vegetable oil, salt, butter, pepper...
  • And the most important one: Creamy Alfredo

Step1:
Boil the water in the pot, put some oil and salt in the water, and cook noodles/pasta first according the direction on the pasta's pack. Pay attention to the directions, because different type of pasta has diverse cooking time. Then, pour away the hot water and put the noodles in the cold water after they are boiled. At last, pour the cold water away, and set the noodles aside.

Step2:
Cut the bacon, mushrooms and celery into pieces. Turn on the stove, put a piece of butter in, then put in bacon. When the bacon change color and the smell goes out, put mushrooms and celery in. Stir for a while.

Step3:
Put the noodles in, and stir. Then, put the creamy Alfredo in.(I put half bottle with half of the noodles), as well as pepper and salt. Mix them up.

Then, finish!
The amount of pepper, salt is determined by your personal preference. Less salt is recommended.

Anyway, as the title say, love your love. Cook it however you want. The creamy Alfredo is responsible for the taste, so don't worry and enjoy!

The Chicken Legs on National Day

It was National Day on October 1st, Saturday, the weekend. No Chinese news, no evening party, no holiday, no shopping with friends. I am not someone who called Miss Popular, and I am usually a quiet girl who can hardly enjoy getting together with a large amount of people talking and drinking all the time. However, at that moment, I preferred to stay in a ball or something like that, because the silence appeared when there should be a lot of heat coming made people easily to think of loneliness. All right, it proves I am a really sensitive person. Anyway, what I want to say is when I feel unhappy I treat myself. Food is always the effective medicine for me. So that’s why I baked the chicken legs at weekends.

After that long lead-in, let’s get into our main focus- the chicken legs I made. Don’t ask me about the nationality of this dish, which I am not sure. It’s my first baked dish, so it’s worth remembering. ^_^

Here is the recipe:
Ingredients:
6 chicken legs, BBQ source(I didn't buy this, so I make it by myself using the spices of Step 2),honey...

Step1:Cut
Step 1: Cut open the chicken legs.
I admit the chicken legs look really ugly when they are cut like this, but this step is needed to make the sauce thicken.

Step 2: Marinate the meat overnight.
The spices of source1
If you have the BBQ source, you can put the chicken legs in the source directly overnight. I didn't get it obviously, so I made the source by myself. For testing, I made two kinds of source using different spices.

Chicken legs with source1

For source1, I put the soya source, cooking wine, pepper, bruised ginger, tomato ketchup, sugar, salt and chicken powder in it. I can't tell the accurate amount. One of the biggest difference between Chinese recipe and American recipe is we don't use to give the accurate amount, and we use the words like a little, a few instead.

The spices of source2
For source2, which is more Chinese maybe, I put the soya source, cooking wine, sugar and salt, the same as Source1, and I put crashed chili and cumin powder. We commonly use cumin powder to bake food in China, and you can buy it from Asia Supermarket.
And then, put these things in the fridge for the whole night to make the meat more tasty.

Step 3: Bake the chicken legs.
Take the chicken legs out of the fridge. Then brush the honey on the chicken. Pre-heat the oven to 375°,and put the legs in for one hour. Turn over the legs and brush the honey again in every fifteen minutes.

Step 4: Enjoy.
I prefer those chicken legs with cumin powder in. And the others taste a little sweet, and really need to be improved.
After the two-day long cooking, the loneliness has been put out of my mind already. What's in my mind now? How to improve my dish!

The First Love

LOVE YOUR LOVE is commonly used as words of love. I can easily imagine that a well-dressed guy looks into a sweet girl’s eyes and says, “Baby, although I love many things in the world, I love your love the most for now and the rest of my life.” Uh…That’s what the song Love Your Love the Most describe. However, I prefer to put these words in another way: love your own love, which is also my attitude towards life. It includes several aspects:
Protect yourself from any harm physically as well as mentally.
Be true to yourself. Love whatever you like bravely. No matter it’s a tree, a flower, a song, a snake or a person.
Insist on your love. Try, obtain and enjoy.
These sound easy, but not when you take into action.
All right. Let’s see what I love.

Cooking
I love eating all kinds of delicious food, typically Chinese food. It’s well known among my friends. It has been one month, since I came here, in Clark. In this month, I ate pizza for once, hamburger for twice and sandwich never. Some people asked, “Is it hard for you to just eat bread for a meal?” I told the truth very honestly, “Yes, it is.” I insist cooking by myself so far, or sometimes dine in a Chinese restaurant downstairs. My refrigerator is filled with many stuffs like vegetables, some cooked food, but no junk food. I enjoy cooking, enjoy waiting for the intoxicating smell of dishes spread around the entire room as well as the process when you become more skillful and the food you cook becomes more delicious. So I would like to post some of my cooking experience here and share the happiness, some funny things and the question with you.

DIY Gifts
I’d love to give a DIY gift to my close friends as well as my boyfriend, if I have one. I tried to do many different things by myself: a scarf, dolls, mobile phone's pendants, album and so on. I like making a gift by myself instead of just buying one, not only because it is my interest but also due to what you make is the only one in the world. When I gave this kind of gift to my friends, it means I cherish the relationship between us, and I think I am unique and irreplaceable just as the only one gift in the world. I will recommend some kinds of DIY gift, and I wish I could find the pictures of what I have already made.

Small pieces of moods
People use capricious to describe a woman. I am a woman. I can be happy now and be upset on the next screen simply because dark clouds cover the sun. Maybe I will complain about a little thing, gabble through my flat experience of a day or exclaim some findings fussily. Please ignore them, but let me speak them out.

Last but not the least, you are welcome to comment about both what I’m talking and my language use. I hope you like my blog and Love Your Love.
